Global Ambassadors

Global Ambassadors are interns in the Center for Global Education office who become part of a student leadership team that provides mentoring and programming to support new undergraduate and graduate international students as they transition to academic and co-curricular life at the University of Wisconsin Whitewater. Support provided by the Global Ambassador Leadership Team is designed to:

  • Foster the academic success of international students,
  • Improve international students' satisfaction with their first-year experience
  • Provide opportunities for international and U.S. students to live with and learn from one another.

The work of the Global Ambassadors is critical for building a campus climate that prepares all students to become leaders in a global society.

Some activities that Global Ambassadors engage in with international students include:

  • Showing students how to get around Whitewater and on campus.
  • Where to shop for groceries, books and dorm supplies.
  • Inviting students to a sporting event, the movies, or cultural activities.
  • Making students feel at home at UW Whitewater.
  • Global Ambassadors make a student's transition easier by sharing information on resources and tips on studying, courses and university life.
  • Invite students to their homes on the weekends or for holidays events.
  • Answer questions about American culture.
  • Introduce new students to other friends.
