ABBREVIATED Job/Project Description
The City of Whitewater is offering a City Management Internship. The City Management Intern assists the City Manager in performing administrative and managerial duties in implementing the day to day operations of the city. The intern also completes rotational assignments between city departments.
Spring 2009 - 12 hours/week
PAID - $10.00/hour
Qualifications
- Minimum of Junior level class standing.
- Prefer students pursuing a bachelor's degree in Public Administration or Business Administration.
- Language skills including but not limited to: ability to analyze data, ability to persuade others, ability to utilize a variety of advisory data and information, and ability to communicate with City personnel and the general public.
- Mathematical skills including ability to calculate percentages, fractions, decimals, volumes, ratios, present values, and spatial relationships; ability to interpret descriptive statistical reports.
- Reasoning abilities including but not limited to: ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness, and creativity; ability to work well under pressure, organize work, set priorities, and perform duties without supervision.
- Other qualifications including ability to effectively meet and deal with the public; ability to work effectively in cooperation with fellow employees; ability to work in/maintain an environment that deals with sensitive/confidential information; proficiency in Microsoft Office programs; excellent communication skills.
- Physical demands including but not limited to: ability to site and talk or hear; vision abilities; coordination; ability to exert light physical effort.
