The Klumb Awards are given in recognition of Dr. Reuben Klumb in honor of his more than 25 years of dedicated work with Homecoming. Each year these awards are given to an outstanding senior female and senior male. The 2008 Senior Award recipients will be chosen among candidates with senior standing and a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher. Candidates may only apply once and must be graduating within the 2008-09 academic year.
A panel of judges will be selected by the Homecoming Steering Committee and the Senior Awards Coordinator. They will conduct interviews on Sunday, October 12 in Room 261 of the University Center. Entrants will be judged on personality, extra-curricular activities, promotion of school spirit and achievements. Entrants are required to submit two letters of recommendation from UW-Whitewater faculty, administrators or university personnel/staff. Recommendation letters MUST be received by Friday, OCTOBER 10, at the Career and Leadership Center, UC 146.
There will be a brief OPTIONAL informational meeting for all candidates on Wednesday, October 1 at 9:15pm in UC 261.
The winners will be announced at the Variety Show on Wednesday, October 22. Recipients will receive a plaque, a corsage, an honorarium, and will appear in the Homecoming Parade. They will be recognized at the October 25th football game, and, if possible, also in the commencement program.
Student will be evaluated based on four areas:
- Demonstrated leadership & scholarship
- Campus Involvement
- Promotion of school spirit
- Extra-curricular activities
All applications should be returned to the Career & Leadership Development, (University Center Room 146), no later than 4:00 pm, Friday October 10.
