Categories
- Live Music Performance
- Solo or Group
- In the above category the majority of performance is live, no pre-recorded music will be allowed, except in the form of an instrumental accompaniment or karaoke-style recording.
- Novelty/Skit
- Comedy, Magic, Drama, etc.
- No vocal/instrumental (live) music performances will be allowed in this category except for background music or as necessary to the plot of the skit.
- Dance/Lip Sync
- Solo or Group
- No live narration
- Emphasis on performing to recorded music
Each organization is limited to ONE act.
The Homecoming Steering Committee reserves the right to classify each act as it sees fit.
The time limit for each act will be FIVE minutes. Acts are limited to 20 performers and one stage manager (to coordinate the performance). Prop limitations will be discussed at the auditions. The entries will be judged by a five-member committee consisting of UW-W faculty, staff, alums, and students. Judging is based on the following:

All entries will be required to submit a form to Career & Leadership Development, UC 146, by 4 pm Friday, October 9, and audition for the show.
Mandatory Auditions will take place in UC 259 on Sunday, October 11 at 10:00am. Groups will sign up for their audition time slot at the General Info Meeting on October 5th.
At the audition, groups will need to perform their complete act once. (Costumes and props are not required.) The Variety Show is limited to 20 acts. Groups will be dropped from the line-up for inappropriate acts, a lack of planning, or for overall level of quality.
Groups providing recorded music/accompaniment of any kind must submit it on one CD on the day after the audition, October 12th, by noon to UC 146. They will be converted for the use in the show. NO STOP/START OF SUPPLIED RECORDING WILL BE ALLOWED.
Mandatory Dress Rehearsal – Sunday, October 18th
All acts selected from the audition process will be required to PERFORM at the dress rehearsal on Sunday, October 18 at 12:00 pm, in UC 259. Rehearsal times will be assigned based upon performance order. These times will be available at the General Info Meeting on October 12th. Acts must be performance ready. Props are not required, but a list of props to be used should be turned in this day. Costumes are required. All technical needs (lighting, sound, smoke machines) and a rough idea of the stage layout will be noted at this time. The dress rehearsal will be videotaped.
Tickets
- Tickets:
- All attendees must have a ticket to enter the auditorium.
- Only those participating in an act will have access to backstage area.
- Ticket Lottery will be held October 5th at the General Information Meeting. Organizations will be limited to 60 tickets in the initial lottery. Groups must pick up their tickets by Noon, Thursday, October 15th from the Ticket Center in the Center of the Arts.
- Any remaining tickets will be available at the ticket outlets after 9:30AM, Friday, October 16th.

Guidelines
- Costumes are subject to approval by HSC.
- All props must be removable from the stage immediately after your performance. Props may not be released into the audience or up to the ceiling (Disqualification).
- Any act promoting irresponsible use of alcohol, using profanity, or implying sexual or racial discrimination will be automatically disqualified.
- Public drunkenness will result in point deductions and/or or group disqualification.
- Decisions of the Judges are FINAL.

Groups altering acts will result in disqualification & will be escorted out
Costumes are subject to HSC approval
Props Not Allowed: Helium-filled Balloons, Glitter, Confetti
