There are three divisions of competition: Residence Halls, Greeks and Student Organizations.
Division Champion and Spirit winners will be announced at the football game (vs. UW-Stevens Point) on Saturday, October 30, 2010, as well as posted throughout the week at http://www.uww.edu/involve/homecoming/2010/ .
Decisions of the Homecoming Steering Committee are FINAL.
For Greeks and Student Organizations:
To participate in any Homecoming event, Greek and Student Organizations must be recognized by UW-Whitewater for the current year. The registration and renewal process is handled through Career & Leadership Development. If you need to renew your organization or become recognized, contact Kim Clarksen at firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible.
For Residence Halls:
In the Residence Hall division, points will be awarded to complexes. For the purpose of point distribution, both the East and West towers of Wells will be considered individual halls. Starin Hall will be considered one hall.
The Office of Residence Life is expecting each complex to choose at least four activities to participate in.
NOTE: We recognize that Assistant Hall Directors are students. For the purposes of homecoming we would like AHD's to encourage students to be engaged and participate. We will not disqualify AHD's for participating, but highly recommend they take a 'back seat' as much as possible.
At the 2nd general meeting on Monday, May 3rd 2010, a lottery is/was held in order for groups to sign up for a specific theme concept. Groups are encouraged to incorporate this theme throughout their homecoming participation. Groups may also choose themes during the fall semester. Examples are provided on a separate handout. All theme changes and/or additions after May 3rd must be registered by contacting Shannon Malchow, HSC Chair, at 262-472-1471 or email@example.com. HSC will determine the appropriate nature of any theme requests.
ONLINE Entry Forms
All events require a completed participation form. All forms need to be completed online at https://my.uww.edu. Paper forms will ONLY be available by request at the front desk of Career & Leadership Development. Online forms are due Thursday, October 14th by 11:59pm. Paper forms must be completed and turned in to Career & Leadership Development, UC 146, by 4pm on Thursday, October 14th.
Fundraising and Promotional Items
Each year, the Homecoming Steering Committee needs assistance to finance the Homecoming activities. Help can be provided by the purchase of buttons, spirit wear or in the form of donations.
Each year, the Homecoming Steering Committee sells buttons and an additional promotional item to help participants celebrate and remember Homecoming 2010. Buttons, sold for $2.00 each, have the extra bonus of gaining you free access to the Homecoming Dance (with UW-W Student ID) and a free ticket to the Variety Show (see Variety Show information for details). You also earn Championship Points for purchasing bags of buttons (see Championship Points Section of the Information Packet for details). Promotional items serve as a way to share your Homecoming Spirit.
At the Fall General Information Meetings, buttons will be sold in bags of 25 and promotional items will be sold individually (limited supply for both - buy early!). Wait until you see the items we have picked out for this year!
Please contact Career & Leadership Development or Kayla, Fundraising/Promotions Coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
These awards are given to two candidates of senior standing with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. Candidates must be graduating during the 2010-2011 school year, and may not reapply if their graduation status changes. Candidates need not have any organization affiliation, and do not serve as representatives of competing Championship Trophy organizations. Please refer to Senior Awards Packet for more details.
UW-Whitewater provides an opportunity for sponsored student representatives to compete and possibly be selected for the Homecoming Court. This selection is implemented through an interview and voting process. Court candidates will be interviewed separately, as candidates are selected for their representation of the greater campus community. Please refer to Court Packet for details.
HSC will be collecting games to give to the Salvation Army. Games can be dropped off at the Career & Leadership front desk anytime during business hours of operation (Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm). Spirit points will be awarded for participating groups. Please select gently used or new items for the donation. More specifics will be available at the October 4th Homecoming Informational Meeting. Board Games, Card Games, Playground Equipment/Outside Yard Games, Dice, Jump Ropes, Hand Held Games, etc. will gladly be accepted. We will decline video games and video game systems.
Childhood Obesity Awareness
Childhood Obesity is a major concern in the United States. HSC would like to bring awareness about obesity, in children and adults alike, to the campus and community. From Monday, October 25th to Friday, October 29th, stop by the HSC table in the University Center Atrium to pick up some information about childhood obesity and related topics.
Earn Spirit Points! In addition to the daily information tables, there will be daily quizzes available from 8 am until 4 pm at Career & Leadership Development (UC 146). Completed quizzes are to be turned into Career & Leadership Development by 4:30 each day. You will need to present your UW-W ID when the form is turned in.
There will also be opportunities to earn Spirit Points by being active! Stay tuned for details!
Questions concerning Obesity Awareness or the Game Drive should be directed to email@example.com or to Lisa, Career & Leadership Development, 262- 472-1471.
