Evolving Leaders Seminar (ELS)

Description of the Seminar

The Evolving Leaders Seminar is an exciting leadership exploration activity open to any UW-W student interested in leadership! The Seminar addresses the five fundamental practices of effective leadership, as identified by the research of James M. Kouzes and Barry Z. Posner, outlined in their book The Leadership Challenge. Students will attend one 3-hour workshop. Seminar content is presented in an experiential format, providing participants with the opportunity to learn from each other as well as from Seminar facilitators.

Benefits

The time commitment is minimal, and participants will come away with an understanding of how to apply the five fundamental practices of effective leadership. This understanding will provide a useful framework for self-assessment and reflection for graduates in future leadership endeavors.

Another of the most cited benefits of the Seminar is the opportunity to meet and get to know other students while exploring leadership. The friendships, connections, and networking that occur during the Seminar are exceptional.
