The MEC has an extensive Multicultural library, which includes a wide variety of titles and diverse authors, travel guides, as well as study abroad information, an extensive compilation of journals and newspapers, and a comprehensive collection of videos and training materials. Due to the UC project, some of the library has been placed in storage but a portion of it is still available for use in Drumlin 120.
According to the MEC's mission statement, the Center will have a comprehensive Multicultural library for the usage of the students, faculty and staff at UW-W, as well as the Whitewater Community.
The library will subscribe to ethnic, professional, and social periodicals and journals. It will provide books from ethnic authors and/or which deal with Multicultural issues or specific ethnic issues, as well as to hold videos and audio materials that are ethnically oriented.
The MEC's library is composed of two types of materials: Non-Circular materials and Circular materials. The Non-Circular materials are such materials as reference materials, musical library, magazines or journals and posters. These materials are not to be checked out of the library.
The Circular materials are books (which are not reference), videos, and a leadership exercises kit. These materials can be checked out according to the following conditions:
Magazine and journal subscriptions will be saved for up to a semester. After that period, the magazines or journals will be recycled according to the UW-W recycling procedures.
