Instructional Technology Use at UW-Whitewater
Instructional, Communication & Information Technology (iCIT) & LEARN Center
The omnipresence of instructional technology, coupled with the on-going developments in instructional hardware and software, make an appreciation of technology a necessary part of professional development for instructors. The Learning Technology Center (http://www.uww.edu/icit/ltc/) offers support to faculty and instructional staff relevant to offering web-based and web-enhanced courses in McGraw Hall, Suite 120. They regularly schedule workshops and faculty panels relevant to the instructional technology.
The LEARN Center supports the efforts of Instructional, Communication & Information Technology by functioning as a clearinghouse for information about "best practices" and current research regarding web-based and web-enhanced instruction. The LEARN Center Instructional Technology Lab, located in 2015 Roseman, also provides walk-in assistance and consultation for individual instructors. Call the LEARN Center at 472.5242 for more information.
Strategic Use of Instructional Technology
As campus-wide experience with the use of technology continues to grow, conclusions on how best to use and not to use technology to optimize student learning are emerging. Through workshops, panel presentations, and department presentations, the LEARN Center coordinates with the sharing of these conclusions. When funds are available, the Center provides financial support to faculty engaged in empirical research assessing the impact of the instructional use of technology on student learning.
