UW-Whitewater elects 10 individuals into Athletic Hall of Fame

The 2009 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Athletic Hall of Fame class is composed of eight former student athletes and two former coaches.

The inductees in the athlete category are:

  • Becky (Karls) Eloe, 1994, track and field
  • Ty Evans, 1995, basketball
  • Kris Hanson, 1996, baseball
  • Cyndee (Madsen) Kelsey, 1988, softball
  • Mary (Jaskolski) Kilar, 1995, volleyball
  • Robert Llorca, 1992, wrestling
  • Denise (Cobb) Mueller, 1994, volleyball
  • Anthony Talton, 1995, football and track and field

Kris Russell, former head women's volleyball coach, will be honored in the coach category. Russell is one of the most successful coaches in the nation with more than 800 careers wins, a Division III national championship title and several coach of the year awards. She also served as the senior woman administrator for athletics at UW-Whitewater from 1998-2005.

John Rabe, a long-time volunteer and supporter of Warhawk athletics, will be honored in the distinguished service category.  Rabe introduced wrestling and gymnastics as intercollegiate sports at UW-Whitewater.

The class of inductees will be recognized during halftime of the Warhawk homecoming football game against UW-River Falls on Saturday, Oct. 24, at Perkins Stadium.

The class will officially be inducted into UW-Whitewater's Athletic Hall of Fame following the homecoming game at a reception and dinner in their honor at the Hamilton Center in the James R. Connor University Center.
