Employee Responsibilities
UW-Whitewater faculty and staff are required to follow a few basic guidelines intended to make the campus more secure and safe for all students and employees. Please review the following list of guidelines.
Obtain a campus Photo ID Card, or “HawkCard.”
These cards are required for UW-Whitewater students and strongly recommended for faculty and staff. The cards will help security staff guard against unauthorized use of facilities. Cards are available at the University Center in Room 245. More information: http://uc.uww.edu/hawkcard/index.asp
Pay attention to campus building hours.
Some higher alert levels will call for stepped-up patrolling of campus buildings, especially after hours. A complete list of building hours is posted at: http://www.uww.edu/adminaff/Building_Hours_Supervision.pdf
Contact building supervisors about after-hours work.
It is recognized that some faculty and staff need access to campus building for evening and weekend classes. Making building supervisors aware of after-hours schedules each semester will aid campus security. A list of building supervisors is posted at: http://www.uww.edu/adminaff/Building_Hours_Supervision.pdf
Be aware of mail handling guidelines.
The U.S. Postal Service provides common-sense tips for identifying mail and packages of a suspicious nature. View the site at: http://www.usps.com/news/2001/press/serviceupdates.htm
Follow the Campus Key Policy during staff changes.
The purpose of this policy is to balance building security needs with the need for appropriate access to work areas and unrestricted access for police and security. Units have a responsibility to keep track of key distribution. See the policy: http://www.uww.edu/uwwhdbk/Keys.htm
