International Travel

UW-Whitewater is committed to making international learning opportunities available to its students. Currently, more than 300 UW-Whitewater students participate annually in a variety of study abroad programs in 12 countries.

Safety education programs are required of all students and staff who intend to travel. While studying abroad, the university maintains regular contact with students by phone, electronic mail and a regular newsletter. Every student also leaves campus with a 24-hour international travel emergency telephone list, which will mobilize a campus response.

UW-Whitewater closely follows U.S. State Department’s Travel Warnings. Current statements call for U.S. citizens to maintain a low profile and be vigilant in assessing their surroundings. They do not, however, recommend evacuation or cancellation.

A current Worldwide Caution has been issued by the State Department and has been sent to all study abroad participants. Travel Warnings can be accessed at: http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/tw/tw_1764.html

Formal exchange programs exist between UW-Whitewater and campuses in the following locations: Rouen, France ; Hertfordshire and Nottingham, England ; Umea and Jonkoping, Sweden ; Hirakata and Tokyo, Japan ; Dublin, Ireland ; Monterrey, Mexico , Melbourne, Australia ; Jyvaskyla, Finland ; Mandeville, Jamaica ; Bern, Switzerland ; Arnhem, The Netherlands ; and Brno, The Czech Republic.
