Reporting a crisis when traveling abroad

Please provide the following details:

  1. Name and location
  2. Telephone number and e-mail where you can be reached overseas
  3. Travel group and university you are studying with
  4. Description of the crisis/emergency
  5. Type of help that you or others need
  6. Other contacts to make on your behalf
  7. Other important information

Emergency procedures while off-campus:

  1. Gather information about the crisis
  2. Account for all participants and insure for their safety
  3. Call appropriate UW-Whitewater contact to report crisis, seek counsel
  4. Make contact with appropriate parties at host university and local agencies
  5. Communicate and follow an appropriate course of action
  6. Stay in regular contact with emergency officials both home and abroad — make all parties aware of any itinerary changes
