Released: November 15, 2002

Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre will donate $10,000 to support programming for wheelchair athletics and recreation the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. The gift will be announced at a press conference at Lambeau Field on Wednesday (Nov. 20) at 3 p.m.

Over the last three years, the Brett Favre Forward Foundation has donated a total of $40,000 to the wheelchair basketball program. Tracy Chynoweth, coach of the Warhawk wheelchair basketball team and head of wheelchair athletics for UW-Whitewater, said past donations have helped purchase equipment that was used by the Warhawks national championship runs in 2001 and 2002.

“Favre is the most significant donor to wheelchair athletics at the university,” Chynoweth said. “He’s one of the best players in the history of the game and it is very satisfying to know he cares so much about the community that surrounds him.”

The Brett Favre Forward Foundation has made past donations to CASA of Brown County (Court Appointed Special Advocates Association), Cerebral Palsy of Wisconsin, Make-A-Wish of Wisconsin and Special Olympics of Wisconsin. The foundation’s mission is to provide aid to disadvantaged or disabled children who reside in Wisconsin or Mississippi.
