Feingold to speak at UW-Whitewater

Released: Month DD, YYYY

U.S. Senator Russ Feingold, (D-WI) will be speaking at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on April 14 at 3:30 p.m. in the Irvin L. Young Auditorium.

His talk will be focusing on “The Value of International Engagement to Address New Global Challenges.” The Global Business Resource Center and the Office of International Education and Programs are sponsoring the talk.

Feingold will be visiting the university at a critical time as the U.S. war with Iraq is under way. Feingold is a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and has supported legislation authorizing the use of force to secure the safety of the United States. Feingold has held a number of listening sessions around Wisconsin and established an Iraq Ideas Forum on his web page to help provide him with a better understanding of questions and concerns that are on the minds of his constituents.

On March 20, Feingold proposed an amendment to the budget resolution on the Senate floor that would create a reserve fund of up to $100 billion to pay for military action and reconstruction of Iraq.

“When we are facing war, the budget must reflect it,” Feingold said. “We cannot blithely go along as if this were a time for business as usual. We should prepare responsibly for what is happening right before our eyes.”
