UW-Whitewater marketing chapter wins international award again

For the second time in three years the UW-Whitewater chapter of the Student American Marketing Association Chapter was selected as the “Outstanding International Chapter” at the 2003 International Collegiate Conference held in New Orleans March 12-16. The UW-Whitewater chapter, which has more than 100 members, has won the award more than any other chapter in the organization’s 25-year history. Faculty advisors are Jimmy Peltier and Scott Swanson.

AMA Chapter president Stephanie Bayer, a senior finance major from Slinger, said that the group makes a chapter plan in fall semester including yearly goals and budgeting. They are then judged on how well they meet those goals and the amount of participation by members in chapter operations and events.

At the New Orleans conference, UW-Whitewater was represented by 30 student members, more than any other chapter. More than 1,000 participants gathered from 100 chapters around the country. Bayer called it “an awesome experience.”
