UW-Whitewater Outstanding Junior Award winners are announced

Released: May 7, 2003

The winners of the UW-Whitewater Outstanding Junior Award were announced on March 21. Every year one student is selected from each of the four colleges, Arts and Communication, Business and Economics, Education, and Letters and Sciences, as the outstanding junior from that college.

The award winners for this year are Christopher A. Swenson of Blanchardville, Wis., from the College of Arts and Communication, Heidi Gneiser of Berlin, Wis. from the College of Letters and Sciences, and Joseph Binder of Hampshire, Ill., from the College of Business and Economics. There were no applicants from the College of Education.

Each of the four colleges establishes its own eligibility criteria for this award, such as the College of Arts and Communications looks at the students’ academic achievements, their involvement in productions and recitals and their potential for success in their major.

Across the board, to be eligible the student must have attended UW-Whitewater for at least five but not more than six semesters and have a 3.5 GPA. The colleges also take into consideration the students’ leadership abilities and their career aspirations.
