UW-Whitewater celebrates Latino Heritage Month

On Monday, Sept. 15, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater began celebrating Latino Heritage Month. This year’s event, “Community Rebuilding through Learning,” includes a series of programs and activities that explore the topics of education, community, immigration, literacy and survival in the current economy. The month-long celebration ends Thursday, Oct. 30.
The following events will take place:
Education and Community, Sept. 22-23
— Panel Discussion: “Our Education and Community,” Roseman Auditorium, Sept. 22, 4-5 p.m.
— Film Series: “El Crimen de Padre Amaro,” University Center, Multicultural Education Center, Sept. 23, 6 p.m.
Immigration and Literacy, Sept. 29-30
— Panel Discussion: “The Patriot Act, Immigration and Literacy,” University Center, South Commons, Sept. 29, 4-5 p.m.
— Film Series: “La Ciudad,” University Center, Multicultural Education Center, Sept. 30, 6 p.m.
Survival in the Current Economy, Oct. 6-7
— Panel Discussion: “Survival in the Current Economy,” University Center, South Commons, Oct. 6, 4-5 p.m.

Dia de la Raza, Oct. 13-14
