UW-Whitewater business education program wins national award
Released: October 27, 2003
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater's department of Business Education/Computer and Network Administration will be the 2003 recipient of the National Programs of Excellence in Business Education. The award is being presented Dec. 12 at the Business Education Awards luncheon held at the National Association of Career and Technical Educators in Orlando, FL.
"Winning this award confirms our department's belief in setting and maintaining high standards for our business and marketing teacher-education programs,” said Richard James, professor of Business Education/Computer Network Administration. “Many universities have reduced requirements for teaching license--we have not. We have submitted three times and have been selected three times. Our selection this year was unanimous by the jury committee."
The Business Division of the Association established the National Programs of Excellence in Business Education Award in 1991 for career and technical education. The award's purpose is to recognize exemplary business programs at the middle/secondary, two-year post secondary and four-year baccalaureate levels.
UW-Whitewater's department of Business Education/Computer Network Administration previously received the award in 1994 and 1997.
