Humorist Dennis West to speak at UW-Whitewater

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Friends of the Andersen Library are sponsoring a presentation by Dennis West titled “Big Mouths and Small Towns Don’t Mix” on Thursday, Nov. 13, in the Hamilton Center, located in the James R. Connor University Center. The presentation is free and open to the public.
Since 1996, West has been publisher and editor of The Beacon, a monthly independent newspaper. He is known by readers throughout southeastern Wisconsin for his humorous column, “Westwords.” Prior to The Beacon, West was president and general manager of WIFR-TV in Rockford, Ill., and served as a member of the CBS Television Network Affiliates Board. Additionally, he served as co-chairman of the Illinois Bar Association public relations committee and was a member of the Illinois Broadcasters Association.
West has won awards for editorial excellence from the Associated Press, United Press International, the Illinois Broadcasters Association and the Wisconsin Newspaper Association.
