Family and Friends of UW-Whitewater Invited to Family Fest

Family and friends of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater are invited to spend Saturday, Oct. 9, on the UW-Whitewater campus to enjoy a day of exciting activities and entertainment at this year’s Family Fest.

Family Fest is sponsored by the Student Affairs Programming Team. According to Family Fest coordinator Barbara Koehrer, Family Fest weekend is the perfect opportunity for students to host their families and friends and participate in a wide range of activities. “It helps families become more familiar with the campus and the university,” Koehrer said. “It’s a unique opportunity for family members of all ages.”

The Family Fest schedule is as follows:


  • 9 a.m., Pedal to the Kettle, Lawcon Shelter – Join the UW-Whitewater/Community Optimist Club for bike rides of 18, 30 and 55 miles through the scenic Kettle Moraine State Forest. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. A registration fee is required. For more information, contact Randy Culler at cullerful@yahoo.com.

  • 9 a.m., Warhawk Women’s Tennis, UW-Whitewater versus UW-La Crosse, Tennis Courts – Support the UW-Whitewater Warhawk women’s tennis team as they take on the Eagles of UW-La Crosse. Admission is free.

  • 11 a.m., Family Fest Brunch, Esker Dining Hall – Tickets are $6 for adults and $6 for children ages 17 and under and adults over age 65. There is no additional charge to students with a university meal plan. For ticket information, contact ticket services at (262) 472-2222.

  • 1 p.m., Warhawk Football, UW-Whitewater versus UW-Stout, Perkins Stadium – Support the UW-Whitewater Warhawk football team as they host the Blue Devils of UW-Stout. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for children ages 17 and under and adults over age 65. Admission is free for UW-Whitewater students with a valid student ID.   • 4:30 p.m., Family Fest Reception, Kachel Center in the Irvin L. Young Auditorium – Meet UW-Whitewater staff members and listen to an interesting presentation by Assistant Chancellor for Student Affairs Barbara Jones. Admission is free.

  • 7:30 a.m., “Bob Newhart,” Irvin L. Young Auditorium – Enjoy an evening of hilarity with this stand-up comedian. For ticket information, contact Ticket Services at (262) 472-2222.
