UW-Whitewater to Hold U.S. Constitution Day Events

In honor of National Constitution Day, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater will hold a series of events to commemorate the national holiday held every Sept. 17.

The first event will include a signing of the U.S. Constitution on Monday, Sept. 19, sponsored by the Whitewater Student Government. The signing will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the James R. Connor University Center. Students, faculty, staff and members of the Whitewater community are encouraged to sign a copy of the U.S. Constitution to show their support.

The second event will feature a panel discussion of topics related to the U.S. Constitution. The discussion will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20 in the Light Recital Hall, located inside the Greenhill Center of the Arts. Professor Emeritus John Kozlowicz will discuss “Federalism,” Katy Heyning, associate dean of the College of Education, will discuss “Education and the Constitution,” Curt Weber of the finance and business law department will discuss “Equal Protection and Due Process,” and Wilfred Tremblay, chair of the department of communication, will discuss the “First Amendment.” The forum is free and open to the public.
