UW-Whitewater Panelists to Discuss Hurricane Katrina

In wake of Hurricane Katrina, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater will hold a panel, "An Interdisciplinary Analysis of Hurricane Katrina: The 'Perfect' Storm," to discuss the storm and its effects within the United States from 6:30-8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 26 at the Hamilton Center, located in the James R. Connor University Center.

Panelists will include faculty from various departments on campus and people displaced by Hurricane Katrina. Topics will include the hurricane itself, how it was handled from different disciplinary perspectives, its cultural, economic and ecological impact, and the media's role in the disaster coverage. Howard Ross, dean of the College of Letters and Sciences will moderate. The panel includes Paula Mohan, lecturer of political science, E.H. Grigsby, professor of sociology, Dick Haven, associate dean of the College of Arts and Communication, and David Travis, professor of geography. The discussion is free and open to the public.
