Released: October 26, 2005
Embracing failure as a milestone to success is the subject of the Wisconsin Innovation Service Center’s (WISC) annual conference “Ideas to Profits” held Friday, Nov. 4 and Saturday, Nov. 5 at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
WISC has earned a national reputation for helping companies, entrepreneurs and inventors make smart product and marketing decisions. Again this year’s conference features a special track for manufacturers looking to embrace innovation.
The two-day conference, held in the Hamilton Center in the James R. Connor University Center, offers 19 workshops from patent lawyers, company CEOs, business development specialists and marketing experts. Workshops include how to assess the market for new products, create competitive advantages with the right intellectual property protection, design and test affordable prototypes, uncover growth financing opportunities, create awareness for new products, and target potential partners.
This year’s keynote speakers include Ralph Kauten, president of Quintessence Biosciences; Craig Schiefelbein, president of Paragon Development Systems, Inc.; Jan Eddy, president of Wingra Technologies; and Tom Still, president of the Wisconsin Technology Council.
Conference sponsors include: DeWitt, Ross & Stevens S.C., Boyle, Fredrickson, Newholm, Stein, & Gratz S.C, United States Patent Services, Wisconsin Department of Commerce, Lab Safety Supply, Wisconsin Technology Council, Center for Technology Transfer, WiSys Technology Foundation, Johnson Diversey, Center for Advanced Technology and Innovation, and Wisconsin Manufacturing Extension Partnership.
WISC, founded at UW-Whitewater in 1980, is a national service that provides research support in new product assessments, competitive intelligence searches, current/potential distributor and customer assessments, and licensing/strategic partner searches. It has investigated more than 6,000 product and market opportunities for private clients and companies.
