Kenosha businessman and UW-Whitewater graduate Dennis Troha has given $100,000 to the new College of Business and Economics building fund. Troha’s gift will be used for the development of the executive conference room.
Troha, a member of the class of 1968, said that the gift is part of his commitment to stewardship and that he is “giving back what God has given me.”
He added, “UW-Whitewater gave me such a good foundation for my career.” Troha said that the instructors in the business college were excellent and did a great job of transferring their knowledge to students.
The gift, Troha said, will hopefully help inspire others who have benefited from a UW-Whitewater education to give to the university as well.
This isn’t Troha’s first gift to UW-Whitewater. He also gave $150,000 for an endowed scholarship that provides four $1,500 scholarships each year. That makes his total gifts to UW-Whitewater so far $250,000.
Troha began with Arthur Andersen in their small business division; a job that he said gave him the self-confidence to go on to a successful career in the transportation field. He is retired but he is the developer for the Menominee tribe’s proposed Kenosha casino.
College of Business and Economics Dean Christine Clements said, “One central goal of this new building is to be able to support College initiatives that connect us with industry, here on campus and beyond. Dennis Troha's gift will provide a beautiful and functional conferencing space that will dramatically enhance our attractiveness to the business community and support these kinds of interactions. We are extremely grateful for his generous support.”
According to UW-Whitewater Foundation President Jonathan Enslin, $5.4 million has been raised toward the goal of $5.7 million for the new building.
The UW-Whitewater Foundation receives, manages and distributes charitable gifts to benefit the university. Since its inception in 1962, the Foundation has raised private funds for many projects including Perkins Stadium, the Alumni Center, the Irvin L. Young Auditorium and the DLK/Kachel Fieldhouse.
