To help keep the Whitewater community warm this winter, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Chancellor Martha Saunders, along with Assistant Professor of Communication Barbara Penington, spent the lunch hour on Tuesday, Nov. 15 serving butterburgers and frozen custard at the local Culver’s restaurant as part of its annual “Day of Warmth” fundraiser.  Customer donations, as well as 10 percent of the day’s profits will be given to local families to help them meet their energy needs this winter.

“I really enjoyed the experience and am grateful we have businesses in Whitewater with such warm hearts,” Chancellor Saunders said.  “I did gain a new respect for restaurant servers – my feet were tired after only an hour.”

The Whitewater Culver’s will be donating approximately $400 to the Keep Wisconsin Warm Fund (KWWF).  The state of Wisconsin, in turn, will match the donation.  All charitable funds will be used to help provide energy assistance to families and individuals in the Whitewater area.

For more information on KWWF or to learn more on how to contribute, contact Keep Wisconsin Warm at (800) 891-WARM or visit www.kwwf.com.
