Released: November 15, 2005

Amy Soleimani-Mafi will address her peers as the student speaker at winter commencement exercises at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17, in the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater’s DLK/Kachel Fieldhouse. “I’ve had such a great experience at UW-Whitewater and I want to end my college career by sharing my experience with everyone,” she said.

Soleimani-Mafi, a Menomonee native, will be graduating from the College of Arts and Communication with a bachelor’s degree in speech with an emphasis in organizational communication. She currently has an internship with Business Development Directives in Eagle, Wis.

Soleimani-Mafi’s inspiration for her speech comes from a book she grew up with and thinks that everyone can relate to – Dr. Seuss’ “Oh! The places you can go!” She believes the book’s message will offer graduates motivation for the future.

“I hope my classmates are proud of themselves and know what an accomplishment this is,” Soleimani-Mafi said. “I hope to inspire them to continue achieving goals they set for themselves as they move to the next step in their lives.”

After graduation, Soleimani-Mafi plans to continue her internship with Business Development Directives.
