Three music students receive honors at vocal auditions
November 10, 2005
Three University of Wisconsin-Whitewater music students received honors at the annual National Association of Teachers of Singing Auditions at Viterbo University in La Crosse on Nov. 4-5. Over 450 vocalists from colleges and universities statewide participated.
Janalyn Bump placed first in the junior women division. Christopher Lippart placed second in the continuing senior men division and Ricardo Aguilar placed second in the sophomore men division. All three singers are studying voice at UW-Whitewater with Brian Leeper, voice area coordinator and member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS).
With over 6,000 members, NATS is the largest association of teachers of singing in the world. Each year NATS chapters and regions host student adjudications providing singers the opportunity to perform and receive written feedback about their performance. To sing for NATS adjudications, students must study with a current member of NATS. The level of adjudication students are eligible for is determined by the amount of time they have studied voice or their age.
