Men's Basketball Team Plays Marquette Nov. 14

Released: November 3, 2005

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men’s basketball team will open its season with an exhibition game versus Marquette University on Monday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee.

The Warhawks begin the season ranked 13th in NCAA Division III play. It will be the third time in school history, and the first time in many years, UW-Whitewater and Marquette University meet on the basketball floor.

“This is a great opportunity for our men’s basketball team,” said UW-Whitewater Athletic Director Paul Plinske. “Our team will be playing in an NCAA Division I atmosphere and it will be a great opportunity for us to become familiar with the intensity required to compete at a championship level.”

“This has absolutely been a positive,” said UW-Whitewater men’s basketball coach Pat Miller. “Knowing that we will be playing Marquette has been very exciting for our team. I think our players are a little more focused knowing they will be playing one of the premier basketball programs in the state.  We are ready to accept the challenge.”

Prior to the exhibition game, Warhawk fans are invited to a pregame social from 5-7 p.m. at Gametime Sports Bar located across the street from the Bradley Center.

The cost for a game ticket and pregame social is $35. To reserve tickets, contact Ruth Hake in the UW-Whitewater Athletic Department office at (262) 472-4661 or Cora Brumley at (262) 472-1655.
