December 20, 2005

Students cheer on the Warhawks at the Stagg Bowl The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football team fell one win short of the school's first national football championship. Mount Union College (Ohio) held off a furious fourth quarter rally to claim the 2005 NCAA Division III Championship, 35-28, handing the Warhawks its first loss after 14 consecutive wins.
I'm very proud of our football team and what they've accomplished," Berezowitz said afterward. "They never quit and stuck with it until the very end. Unfortunately, Mount Union made some plays and took it to us in the third quarter and that was the difference in the game."
"Every one of those kids can walk out of here with his head held high," Berezowitz added. "For 14 weeks, we did what we wanted to, but today we weren't able to."
