AMA holds food drive for Hurricane Katrina victims

Released: September 28, 2006

On Saturday, Sept. 30, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater's student American Marketing Association (AMA) will be going door-to-door around Whitewater area neighborhoods collect food for Hurricane Katrina victims.

Ten to 15 UW-Whitewater students will be traveling around the community to hand out Sentry grocery bags to residents. Whitewater residents are asked to contribute nonperishable or canned food items to the organization. "It is important for people to realize that the effects of Hurricane Katrina have not gone completely away. People all over the Gulf Coast still need our help," said Kelly Mischler, vice president of AMA.

AMA students will return the following Sunday, Oct. 8, to collect any donations. Donors are asked to place the bags near their mailboxes in order for accurate pick-up. AMA appreciates any donations made by the community for the victims still in desperate need of help.
