Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reporter, alumnus Gary D'Amato to hold book signing on campus Oct. 14

Released: October 3, 2006

Alumnus Gary D'Amato, author of "Mudbaths and Bloodbaths: The Inside Story of the Bears Packers Rivalry," will be on the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater campus signing his book before the Warhawks' homecoming game on Saturday, Oct. 14.  The book signing will be held from noon to 1 p.m. and from 3 to 4 p.m. at Perkins Stadium.

D'Amato, a 1978 UW-Whitewater graduate, will donate 25 percent of the proceeds from his signing to the College of Arts and Communication.

"Donating the proceeds is just a small way to say thanks to the university for all that it has given me."

D'Amato chose to do a book signing at UW-Whitewater because of his great attachment to the university. He is a member of the College of Arts and Communication Advisory Board and both of his children are UW-Whitewater graduates, as is his brother.

"As the years have gone by, I've come to value my educational experience at UW-Whitewater more and more and have made a conscious effort to be more involved as an alumnus," he said.

D'Amato graduated with bachelors degrees in broadcast journalism and English. He works for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel as a sports reporter and has been with the paper for 16 years. Along with the UW-Whitewater signing, D'Amato will also hold a book signing in Green Bay at the Packer's Pro Shop from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7 the day before the Packers play the St. Louis Rams.
