Campus flag flies high at the Visitor's Center
For the first time in its 138 years of existence, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater has a campus flag. Designed by Assistant Professor of Art Daniel Kim, the new campus flag looks to show the historic side of UW-Whitewater and what it means to be a part of the university.
"The flag will not be changed for a long time so I am excited," Kim said. "I am proud to be a part of UW-Whitewater and able to design the campus flag. The two white lines on the campus flag represents an equal sign, a connection, as well as a balance. For example giving equal learning opportunities to anyone who comes to UW-Whitewater, a close connection between students and faculty and a balance of tradition with innovation."
"The new campus flag is a nice symbol that reflects the history of UW-Whitewater which has the Old Main symbol embroidered on it," Assistant Chancellor of Student Affairs Barb Jones said. "UW-Whitewater will also take the campus flag with them when they attend admissions fairs to show off to other universities."
The campus flag is currently flying at the visitor's center on campus and will be lowered in recognition of any deaths of university faculty members or students.media contact
