BSU to hold 4th annual Cultural Explosion Nov. 1
October 27, 2006
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater's Black Student Union (BSU) invites students and faculty to come and experience a night of cultural singing, dancing and poetry. On Wednesday, Nov. 1, BSU will hold its 4th annual Cultural Explosion at 9:30 p.m. at the Light Recital Hall in the Center of the Arts.
Cultural Explosion is an event which showcases the talents of the UW-Whitewater Gospel Choir, the TIFU Cultural Ensemble, the Itatol singers, the Southeast Asian Organization dancers, the ALMA dancers, poets from the Black Student Union and TIFU and several soloists from all of the represented organizations.
"We hope that the students realize that learning about diversity can be both interactive and fun," founder and creator of BSU Cultural Explosion Andre Douglas said. "It's not always lectures and PowerPoint, but it is seeing how the different cultures take pride in their talents. Also, we hope the students will have a great time at this event."
The BSU executive board has been working hard advertising and planning for the event. According to Douglas, they hope to have the Cable 19 campus TV station broadcast the event live and be recorded for later dates.
The Cultural Explosion asks for a $2.00 donation at the door with all proceeds benefiting the "Friends of Pre-College Scholarship." Doors open at 8:45 p.m. Seating is limited.
