Leadership Development offers Evolving Leaders Seminar

Released: October 2, 2006

Leadership Development will afford all the promising leaders at University of Wisconsin-Whitewater the rare chance to grasp a full understanding of leadership through several installments of the "Evolving Leaders Seminar."

Participants at the event will learn the five fundamental practices of effective leaders as emphasized in the book, "Leadership Challenge" by James Kouzes and Barry Posner. Participants will gain conceptual understanding of leadership and methods for solving issues.

Ben Lutterman, coordinator and facilitator for this year's seminar, said, "Attendance at this seminar is a plus on any resume." And, students will have the opportunity to network and build relationships with other students.

Lutterman, a UW-Whitewater alumnus, is quite familiar with the seminar. For the last two years, Lutterman has worked for both Leadership Development and SEAL, and is currently completing his graduate assistantship with Leadership Development. Lutterman, whose background is business by way of his B.B.A from UW-Whitewater's College of Business and Economics, and his current study in UW-Whitewater's M.B.A. program, still believes attendance at the seminar would be beneficial to all interested in leadership. Though Lutterman is a frequent at the seminar, he is still excited about this year's event and inquires to learn more from it, Lutterman said, "There's always more to be learned and understood at the event!"

This seminar is free and open to all university students. Attendance is limited to only 30 students. However, if there is high demand for more seminars; additional dates will follow.
