Released: October 27, 2007
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater's Wisconsin Innovation Service Center will host its annual commercialization conference, "Ideas to Profits: Making Critical Connections."
The two-day conference will be held on Nov. 3-4, 2006, at the Greenhill Center of the Arts, the Kachel Dance Center and various classrooms on the UW-Whitewater Campus.
Individuals should plan to attend a paneled-seminar where major manufacturers, distributors, industry experts and successful inventors and entrepreneurs will hold question-and-answer sessions. There will also be 19 workshops to choose from focusing on various topics, including: innovation commercialization, publicity and marketing strategies, cost-effective intellectual property decisions, licensing, success stories and more.
This year's keynote speakers include Erik Buell, chairman and chief technical officer of Buell Motorcycle Co., and Ken Hendricks, chairman, chief executive officer and founder of ABC Supply Co. These two speakers were chosen for their proven expertise in entrepreneurship and innovation. Both have also worked to stay in touch with the community and offer their ideas and experiences.
Other speakers include Dan Peterson, president and chief operating officer of A&E Manufacturing Company, Dane Crane, hand tool buyer for Ace Hardware, Tom Southall, president of Construction Business North America and Illinois Tool Works, Carl Accardo, president of CAAP Products, Stuart Anders, serial inventor and John Suckow, president of JS&T Tooling Concepts LLC.
Scholarships are available for those students interested in attending the conference, but there are a limited number available and are given out on a first-come first-serve basis.
