Undergraduate Research Program meeting October 4

Released: October 2, 2006

Students looking for the chance to excel creatively outside of the classroom, enhance their resume and have the chance to travel, should seriously consider the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater's Undergraduate Research Program.

Junior LeQuez Spearman, a current undergraduate research student said, "Being involved in this program is great and very beneficial for my future. I am getting this immense experience learning better ways to research, and it?s helping me to better prepare myself for graduate school. Also, this experience looks great on a resume, especially when trying to apply for graduate school."

Interested students are invited to attend a brief introductory session where they will learn about the undergraduate research experience from a student's perspective. Experienced students will make short presentations on a range of topics including history, music and business/economics. The session will specifically focus on why students should be interested in doing undergraduate research. According to Undergraduate Research Program Coordinator Jeff McKinnon, students may be hesitant to do something like this, but they "won't feel alone because they are able to work with a mentor throughout their research process."

The Undergraduate Research Program will hold this introductory session from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 4 in the Undergraduate Research/International Programs Seminar Room, room L-2254.
