Friends of UW-Whitewater library sponsor blog workshop Dec. 8
November 30, 2006
Blogs have become a popular way for people to have their voice and thoughts heard. The Friends of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Library will sponsor a workshop on "Blogs and RSS feeds," from 1-3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8, 2006 at the Library Bibliographic Instruction Lab (L2211). Bibliographic Instruction Coordinator, Martha Stephenson, will conduct the hands-on workshop.
A blog is a Web site that is easily created and updated, somewhat like an online diary. It can include text, images, videos and more. Blogs exist for almost every topic imaginable, including news, professional, entertainment and more. An RSS feed is a way to subscribe to one or more blogs and view entries from them without needing to visit each one individually. The content will come to you instead of you going to it. This workshop will introduce popular blog services, as well as how to use and create a blog. In addition, the workshop will address how to add an RSS feed, post messages and leave comments. Also covered will be using Bloglines, an aggregator service, to search for and subscribe to feeds.
There is no charge for this workshop and a RSVP is optional, but will guarantee your seat. For more information, contact (262) 472-1032 or refdesk@uww.edu.media contact
