Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority holds annual clothing, food drive
November 15, 2006
In the spirit of the holiday season, the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at UW-Whitewater is helping give back to the community through its second annual food and clothing drive.
Now through Monday, Nov. 20, students can drop off clothes and nonperishable food items in the first floor of Lee, Wells, Fisher and Knilans residence halls. Donations will then be given to local churches and shelters in Whitewater, Milwaukee, Madison and Chicago. Donations will also be given to a house in Whitewater filled with children whose parents have been deported to Mexico.
"As a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, Lambda Xi Chapter, I am privileged that this drive is helping out the community. Since our organization is based on being of service to all mankind, this definitely reminds me of why I became a member in the first place," said Ramycia Cooper, Alpha Kappa Alpha Secretary.media contact
