Nominations now accepted for "Women of Color" Award

Nominations are being accepted now through November 28 for the "Women of Color" award to honor a woman who has made outstanding contributions to diversity and women's studies at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Human resources and diversity is accepting the nominations. Nominees can be a UW-Whitewater faculty, staff, student or community member. They should be women of color who have worked in the areas of women's studies scholarship and activism, especially to improve the status and climate for women, in addition to being advocates for women. These women should have also consistently demonstrated their ability to rally diverse forces together to advance the agenda of women. Nominees should also have created positive changes at the institutional level and have demonstrated an understanding of the interplay of family and community and culture in the lives of women of color.
The University of Wisconsin System Women's Studies Consortium, housed in academic and student services, works to ensure the continued development of women's studies in the UW System, to maintain current national prominence in the field, and to create a unique inter-institutional model for educational innovation. The consortium focuses on initiative in instruction, research, outreach, library resource development and international programs. It also encourages all the UW System women's studies programs to fulfill goals of the mission of the university, leading to continued growth and development of education by, for, and about women in Wisconsin.
