Released: December 4, 2006

One scholarship, two students.  The University of Wisconsin System awards the Katharine C. Lyall Study Abroad Scholarship to only two institutions each year. Sophomore Cory Ealy is the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater's recipient.

Ealy of Beaver Dam is an international business major with a minor in German and will be studying abroad in spring 2007 via the Wisconsin-Hessen Exchange Program with Germany. He will attend the University of Marburg from mid-April to late-July.

Ealy has taken six years of German-two in college and four in high school.  His career goals include a major administrative position for a large business.  He would like to start out as an outside sales representative and then establish skills while staying connected with Germany.

"This study abroad experience will be extremely beneficial to helping me reach those goals," said Ealy. "I am really looking forward to enhancing my German and cultural awareness."

Ealy is currently a student athlete on the rugby team.  He plans to play with a club team at the University of Marburg in Germany.  He is also a member of the Wisconsin Army National Guard.  He will continue to work with his unit until his departure in early April.
