Hundreds of students made a difference on Oct. 5
Released: October 5, 2007
Chalking for Homecoming, stuffing Halloween bags, food pantry labeling and organizing, cleaning Cravath Lake and the UW-Whitewater campus and community. This volunteer work and more was done on Friday, Oct. 5 by the American Marketing Association, Peer Mentors, PRSSA members, residence halls, sororities, fraternities and more.
UW-Whitewater senior Suncerrae Perry participated as a Residence Hall assistant and for her sorority. She and others cleaned up trash around the city. "I think Make a Difference Day is a really great event," She said. "It's a great way to bring the community together. I know it was started only a few years ago, but it's already a success."
Sophomore Brian Rice participated with some friends representing their residence hall Lee/Fricker. "This is my second year helping out. Even though it's one day, I really think it will make a difference for the community."
Alpha Sigma sorority helped out at the food pantry. Member Stephanie Thuilliez, a senior, said, "We all think it's great. We are all in this community together, so we might as well help out. It's a nice day, we get to hang out with each other and help out at the same time."
