UW-Whitewater creates partnership with StoryBridge.tv: Watch now
November 30, 2007
UW-Whitewater is in a partnership with a new online media company based in Madison, StoryBridge.tv. The partnership will allow UW-Whitewater to support and sponsor mini-documentaries about strategic areas important to campus.
StoryBridge.tv is an innovative concept developed by former Madison TV anchor Katy Sai and videographer Jay Olsen. They have teamed up to share compelling stories through their Web site: www.storybridge.tv. This format allows Sai and Olsen to tell stories in a longer version and allows anyone who is interested in sharing it to link to their Web site. Recently they were sent to Peru to prepare a number of programs about Anonymous Angels. Those stories were sponsored by Fair Indigo, a Madison-based company started by 1985 UW-Whitewater alumnus Don Hughes.
"I was immediately impressed with the concept of StoryBridge.tv. It's a brand new way to present news and has the potential for our sponsored stories to literally reach around the world," said Sara Kuhl, director of University Marketing and Media Relations.
StoryBridge.tv is multilayered as well. The Web site offers links to areas of interest to a story and allows feedback from viewers
The first UW-Whitewater-sponsored story to be told by StoryBridge.tv is Making Waves and focuses on a program to give people with disabilities the chance to water ski.
"As the UW System's campus designated to serve students with disabilities, this was a perfect story for UW-Whitewater to sponsor," Kuhl said. "It goes to the heart of what makes this campus so special. We don't see limitations in our students, rather we see their full potential. StoryBridge.tv is helping to share these inspiring stories."
In the coming months StoryBridge.tv will present a piece on the "Urban Experience" service-learning project the university's Social Work Student Organization participated in this past fall, among others. Stay tuned!
