Vote for Justin Beaver for Gagliardi Trophy

Released: November 26, 2007

Senior running back Justin Beaver has been named one of ten finalists for the Gagliardi Trophy. The Gagliardi Trophy, named in honor of long-time Saint John's University (MN) coach John Gagliardi and sponsored by the Saint John's J-Club and Josten's Incorporated, is emblematic of the top player in NCAA Division III football.

Beaver, the all-time leading rusher in UW-Whitewater and Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) history, has piled up 5,889 yards in his career -- the fourth highest total in the NCAA Division III record book.

Already twice an All-American in 2005 and 2006, Beaver was recently named the WIAC's Most Valuable Player, adding the league's Max Sparger Scholar Athlete for football honor as well.

Beaver was a finalist for the Gagliardi Trophy in 2005, when he rushed for 2,420 yards.  The field of ten finalists will be reduced to five, and fan balloting will be implemented as part of the selection process this year to determine the trophy recipient. Votes can be cast now through Dec. 4 at: http://www.d3football.com.
