Released: November 29, 2007
They have achieved national champion status four times this decade and are looking to add another this year. The UW-Whitewater wheelchair basketball team has become a dominant force in their league, and on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 they are coming home to play.
The Warhawks have already won their first seven games this year, including a close but impressive game versus the Milwaukee Wheelchair Bucks.
"To this point this year we've shown some bits and pieces of being a great team with the potential to reach our goals," said Coach Chynoweth. "We've had two good weeks of practice leading up to what we expect to be a very successful weekend."
The team's first home games are Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. The game schedule and opponents are as follows; University of Missouri on Nov. 30 at 10:45 a.m., University of Alabama on Nov. 30 at 2:15 p.m., University of Arizona on Nov. 30 at 7 p.m., and the University of Texas-Arlington on Dec.1 at 8 p.m. All games will be played at the Kachel Fieldhouse.
"We are a very tough team with a ton of height, a good deal of depth, great outside shooting and veteran leadership," commented Chynoweth. "I feel very confident about who we are right now at this point in the season and looking forward to showing that off this weekend."
Come out and cheer on your defending national champion Warhawks as they test their talents against some of the best athletes in the nation.
