Invest some 'Warhawk Cash' at Business Plan Contest finale

Released: April 01, 2008

Come invest some "Warhawk Cash" in University of Wisconsin-Whitewater entrepreneurial students' business plans. Alumni are invited to attend the second annual Warhawk Business Plan Contest and support up-and-coming businesses.

The student Collegiate Entrepreneurs' Organization (CEO) is sponsoring the Warhawk Business Plan Contest. On the evening of May 1 in the Hamilton Center of the new University Center, the five final teams will compete for the top prize of $5,000.

The agenda for the evening:

The top five teams competing for first through third place and up to $8,000 worth of prizes are:

The cost to attend the event is $10, which includes appetizers, a cash bar and $2,500 in Warhawk Cash. An exciting twist to this year's competition is the investment of Warhawk Cash by contest attendees. The first business to reach $1 million in revenue will have a name drawn out of that company's investors. When you "invest" in a business, you will be entered to win $500.

The finalists will present their plans to a panel of judges, including Don Hughes, founder and chief operating officer of Fair Indigo; Dave Rasmussen, president of Extract Systems; Peter Scherrer, president of Scherrer Construction; Jon Kachel, president of Commercial Bank and Bill Hubbard, co-founder of CaP Biomaterials, LLC and Cytophil, Inc.

Alumni are encouraged to attend to support fellow UW-Whitewater students. To RSVP, e-mail contest@uwwceo.org and include the number of people attending and their names. Or visit www.uwwceo.org where attendees can pay the $10 registration fee through PayPal. For more information, contact Vanessa Lund at lundve25@uww.edu or Erin Leaf at leafe@uww.edu.
