Spring commencement ceremony to be held May 17

More than 1,300 diplomas will be given to students at the spring 2008 commencement ceremony.
The class of 2008 will gather with friends and family at the DLK/Kachel Fieldhouse Saturday, May 17 at 10 a.m. to participate in the formal graduation ceremony. A total of 1,148 undergraduates will receive degrees and 199 master's degree graduates will also be recognized.
Notable band and drum corps uniform designer Michael J. Cesario will address the graduating students and guests as the commencement speaker. Cesario received a bachelor's degree in 1971 from UW-Whitewater. Currently, he designs modern band uniforms for the University of Central Florida, the University of Miami and Arizona State University, as well as other high schools and drum and bugle corps around the country.
Gwynne DeBoer of Greendale/Franklin, will be the student speaker. She will graduate summa cum laude with a double major in Spanish and biology. She is a member of UW-Whitewater’s Leadership Honor Society and has been on the Dean’s List for the last six semesters. She has studied in Mexico and Costa Rica and is a member of the university’s nationally recognized Undergraduate Research Program.
Commencement will also be broadcast on Cable 19, the university cable TV station. It will be shown live on campus at Drumlin Hall and off campus on Charter Cable, channel 19 in Whitewater. The ceremony will also be available for purchase on DVD for $26.00. No ticket will be needed to watch the ceremony at Drumlin Hall.
