Getting around during Wyman Mall construction
Released: May 27, 2008
The southern phase of the Wyman Mall construction has begun and certain mall entrances to McGraw Hall, Hyer Hall and Andersen Library and the surrounding walkways will be closed. The construction zone starts north of McGraw Hall and extends beyond the Andersen Library building. Temporary sidewalks have been installed to help circumvent the construction zone and will lead to accessible entrances.
Accessible entrances to Hyer Hall, McGraw Hall and Andersen Library building are:
Hyer Hall
- There is a temporary sidewalk connecting the south University Center plaza to the northern entrance to Hyer Hall, which provides elevator access to the building.
- Two additional entrances located on the second floor of Hyer Hall facing the Alumni Center are also open.
McGraw Hall
- Western entrances facing the mall are available using the temporary connector sidewalk that starts south of the University Center.
- The two entrances on the east side of McGraw Hall will remain open.
- The construction does not affect the internal tunnel between the Andersen Library building and McGraw Hall.
Andersen Library
- All eastern entrances to the Andersen Library building, facing Prairie Street, will be open.
- The southwestern entrance to the Andersen Library building, which houses the Honors Program, will remain open.
Follow the attached link www.uww.edu/campus/wyman_mall_map.pdf to the map that highlights the affected building entrances and identifies the routes and access points that will be open during construction. The striped orange area represents the entire construction zone; the solid orange areas signify the closed entrances and the green lines and blocks show alternate routes and open accessible entrances to the affected buildings during construction.
Efforts will be made to restore access to closed entrances as close to the opening of fall semester as possible with the overall project slated for completion during fall semester 2008.
