College of Business and Economics named "Best School for Online Business Education"
Released: July 2, 2008
The best just keeps getting better. Already rated a best business school by the Princeton Review, the College of Business and Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater was recently named “Best School for Online Business Education” by readers of the monthly business magazine, “Corporate Report Wisconsin.”
This was the fourth year that the publication held its Best of Wisconsin Business Awards and the first year that they had this category. “Corporate Report Wisconsin” readers voted online to select the winner through special software, which limited readers to one vote per category. Some of the categories included “What is the best insurance plan?” and “What is the best performing arts venue?” The question that was asked in the category pertaining to UW-Whitewater was, “What is the best school for an online program?” UW-Whitewater beat out UW-Milwaukee and Madison Area Technical College for the award.
This year, more than 2,700 votes were cast online, more than 10 percent of CRW’s executive readership. The awards ceremony took place June 13 at the Kalahari Resort and Conference Center in Wisconsin Dells. Lois Smith and Renee Pfeifer-Luckett, both professors in the College of Business and Economics, accepted the award.
“It was wonderful to learn that business people from across Wisconsin have identified our online business offerings as the best in the state. We work hard to maintain high quality, accredited classes, whether those courses are offered online or face-to-face,” Smith said. “This recognition by the readers of ‘Corporate Report Wisconsin’ makes all of us in the College of Business and Economics proud.”
