AMA chapter hosts regional conference Nov. 14

More than 130 students from universities in Wisconsin and northern Illinois will come to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater for the American Marketing Association Regional Conference, Branding in a Multi-channel world. The event will be held from 8 a.m.- 5p.m., Nov. 14 in the University Center.

“UW-Whitewater’s inaugural Regional AMA Conference provides an opportunity to bring together students from multiple universities to learn about marketing, to meet marketing professionals, to find internships and jobs, and importantly, to network with other students,” Jimmy Peltier, Irvin L. Young Professor of Entrepreneurship and UW-Whitewater AMA chapter advisor, said.  “The list of national and international keynote speakers is mind-boggling. Our goal as educators is to teach students what the world is all about, and the theme of the conference takes this global view. This is an exciting opportunity that we hope to continue into the future.”

Highlights of the conference include the career corner, where students can network with recruiters for jobs and internships. Students are encouraged to e-mail their resume by Tuesday, Nov. 11 to the conference coordinator at uwwregionalconference@gmail.com, who will forward them to the recruiters. Also, there will be prominent keynote speakers from Harley Davidson, Google, Lands’ End, Cramer-Krasselt and more.

Scheduled activities include:

• 7:30-9 a.m.- Attendee check-in: UC Old Main Ballroom
• 8-9 a.m.- Breakfast and recruiter career corner: UC Old Main Ballroom
• 9-9:15 a.m.- Chancellor Richard Telfer Opening Speech: Summers Auditorium
• 9:15- 9:45 a.m.- Speaker Jeremy Frenz from Target: Summers Auditorium
• 10-10:45 a.m.- Speaker Stacey Symonds from Lands’ End: Summers Auditorium
• 11:10-11:55 a.m.- Speaker Lee Hunter from Google: Summers Auditorium
• 12:30-2 p.m.- Lunch: UC Old Main Ballroom
• 2-3 p.m.- Speaker Bill Blank from GMR: Summers Auditorium
• 3-4 p.m.- Speaker Sue Northey from Cramer-Krasselt: Summers Auditorium
• 4-5 p.m.- Speaker Andy Benka from Harley-Davidson: Summers Auditorium

Registration is $20, which includes entrance to the Career Corner. The speakers are open to the public. Business casual dress is required.
