Top workplace logoFor the second consecutive year, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is the only university and only state agency named a Top 100 Workplace in southeast Wisconsin.

UW-Whitewater also made the list of America's Top 300 Workplaces, joining some of the most successful and respected companies in the country, including 3M, Edward Jones, FedEx, Johnson Controls, Mayo Clinic and Microsoft.

The regional list, compiled by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, ranks public and private organizations based on employee surveys. More than 85,400 people in southeast Wisconsin were asked questions about company direction, pay and benefits, management, work/life balance and career opportunities.

"Being named to the national top workplace and the 2012 Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Top Workplaces lists reinforces my belief that UW-Whitewater is special," said Chancellor Richard Telfer. "Our faculty and staff create an environment where our students are successful and where faculty and staff support each other in their endeavors."

Companies that are innovative and foster a collaborative workplace climate were most likely to make the list, according to organizers.

"We are a campus that prides itself on continuing to change and grow to meet the needs of our students and their future employers," Telfer said. "Along the way we have created a campus where people enjoy coming to work, where they feel appreciated and their achievements are celebrated. I have been a member of the UW-Whitewater community for more than 25 years and I am proud of what we have accomplished but I am most proud of the people with whom I work. These honors truly belong to them."
